The screenwriter, and president of the Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF), Sayed Fouad, announces a selection of figures paying tribute to them in the LAFF’s Seventh edition. Tribute goes to the great star actor Mr. Gamil Ratib for his distinguishable contributions in Egyptian and International Cinema and his life-long achievements acting in cinema, theater and television. LAFF also pays a special tribute to the Senegalese Film Director Moussa Touré who has received many international awards, and produced more than ten films in the past ten-years, some of which are narratives, documentary, and shorts. His Film La Pirogue (2012) was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012.
Azza El-Hosseiny, director of LAFF, announces an event to commemorate a decade to the passing of the Internationally acclaimed Film Director, Youssef Chahine with the screening of his Film The Return of the Prodigal Son (1976) and the launch of a newsletter on his life and works.
LAFF will also host a forum that commemorates the passing of a century to the greatest Gamal Abdel Naser and the South African Nelson Mandala to whom bother were born in 1918, deeply influencing a number of people for representing a model on the struggle for National Liberation.Film screenings related to these figures will be announced soon.
